My name is Hanif Adinugroho Widyanto, a final-year undergrad student at President University, Jababeka, majoring in International Business study. I was born at St. Boromeous Hospital, Bandung, on October 23, 1987. In the early years of my life, my father got a scholarship to continue his master's at Curtin University so our family moved and lived at Perth, Australia for about 3 1/2 years. That's when my brother born. I remember that I was just a couple of months away before I celebrated my 5th b'day when we returned to Indonesia. Having spent the year after at my granny's house at Tebet, our family finally settled (until today) at a decent house in Melati Mas Residence, Serpong, Tangerang. My educational background from kindergarten until junior high school was dominated with one name: Al-Azhar BSD. I had such fond memories back then, but it was when I finally got accepted at Taruna Nusantara Senior High School, a semi-military boarding school at Magelang, Central Java, that my life hit its critical u-turn and started to drastically change. I started to realize and identify my 'purpose' as a person in this ever-competitive life, a Moslem in such a changing society, and an Indonesian in a globalized era. Today, I'm currently working on my thesis regarding "Analysis of Major Due Diligence Determinants to Attract Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) on Toll-Road Public Private Partnerships (PPP) Projects" , which has completely drained my very-limited-capacity-when-it-comes-to-doing-thesis brain, to the extent where I'd rather sleep than working on it (huhuuu,, lousy procrastinator me as always,, I know T_T). On the other hand, I'm also involved with the "International Symposium in Commemoration of 100 Years of National Awakening Day" in Berlin, Germany; an international event which is hosted and organized by my friends at the Indonesian Student Association (PPI) in Germany. This blog is just a snapshot of my life's chronicle, and while "I" am naturally gonna be the dominant 'force' in this blog, but my story could also be about you. About the challenging yet amusing life that I always cherish and adore (and hate sometimes ^^;). About every step that I have to take, decisions that I have to make, options and alternatives that I've got to choose (sometimes at a spur-of-the-moment notice!!). But mostly, it's about life in general and how I put things into perspective. This could easily be my story, but one in which (hopefully) you could relate and share with me and the rest of the readers. Blogging Resolution!!!
Q: "What is blogging to me? Why did I blog in the first place?"
A: ". . ."
Err,,, honestly, I don’t know.
I just feel like it’d be great if I could have a place to flee from my everyday routines; where I could literally share all of my stories and interests and express my ideas without being snubbed at even when I’m beating around the bush and wandering around the topic just to prove a point. Cause somehow, even my close friends find me as an overly talkative person who doesn't have the habit of getting to the p
oint at once. Hint: I AM FULLY AWARE of it. It’s just that, I can’t help myself for wanting to be specific and thorough at the same time when explaining something. Is it wrong? Well, it might take a bit more time and all, but I clear things up better this way, don’t I? Or am I just self-justifying myself? ^_^; Either way, that‘s why I started blogging, I guess…
Speaking of which, I’ve so far detached myself from talking about "hard topics" in my blog, despite the fact that I’m always partial to the discussion regarding international geopolitics and geo-strategies issues; especially when it concerns global economic order (sounds sophisticated and intricate, don’t you think? that makes the two of us then :P). It’s not that I’m totally eliciting those matters from this blog; rather, I’d prefer to have a personal blog with light, run-of-the-mill topics about my interests, hobbies, activities, and the like in which readers could relate themselves. But, then again, seriously? Well… to be honest, I haven’t really decided the course of this blog anyway. I only blog now and then and I’m really fed up with my own commitment to blogging. Having said that, starting from now on, I think I wouldn’t mind discussing about literally any kind of topics in this blog, including the “hard” ones, as long as I enjoy writing it. Besides, that’s what blogging is all about anyway, isn’t it? The experience of conveying our ideas without restraint to the rest of the world. *smirking*
Well, I just think that I really need to point this out (and pretend like anyone would care :P) so that I could have an idea of where I would go on with this blog. Sometimes, I often have these kinda inventive ideas to be put on the blog, like having features such as “Review of The Week”, “Recommendation of the Week”, or simply sharing my concerns on current issues that might affect our lives personally (e.g. the rise of oil price, inflation, global warming, etc.). Perhaps by then I could better relate to any visitors or readers of my blog. I guess it’s settled then. Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome, the all-new KID’s LIFE: Revealed!!

The Difference is in the Eye of the Beholder!!
Just now I bumped into a very interesting site for those who feel like “knowledgeable" enough to tell apart between Chinese, Japanese, and Korean; while many consider them to be all the same. In alllooksame.com, you’re challenged to corroborate whether it is prejudice or impartiality that rules. The site offers eight tests in different categories such as “Faces”, “Traditional Architecture”, and “Food”, to mention a few; each with their distinctive multiple-choice questions.
Well, having some Chinese friends from the Mainland in my university and bearing in mind that I’m a moderate fan of J-Dorama (Japanese soap opera) like “Long Vacation”, “Beach Boys”, “GTO”, “One Litre of Tears”, etc., and also K-Drama (the Korean ones), I tried to attest my knack in distinguishing between the three nationalities (i.e. Chinese, Japanese, and Korean) through the tests provided in the site. As a result, by and large, I scored 12 out of 18 faces, which is said to be “Pretty Good” that I “may have a talent”!! Well,, the point of having such a talent - if it should ever be true,, I don't know for sure - perhaps yet,, ;P
Btw, the site does have its backbiting and criticisms though, for it is said to be some sort of political arena and that it would promote racism, or that the site itself is racist. However, as clarified by Dyske Suematsu, the webmaster, the bottom-line is that he thought it would be a funny idea to realize this kind of site; yet at the same time celebrating the similarities and differences among Asians. It's debatable though, as always. But as for me, controversies aside, I just enjoy the site despite the “hullabaloos”… ^__^;

The Verses of Love
Having read the book the whole night until this very morning, I’ve found myself to be someone who has been away from Allah, the God Almighty, for so long, and I felt much sinned about it. I really missed being a good Moslem, yet I always caught myself drowned with my absurd love to the momentary delight in the world most of the time. I also learned that the true love of a Moslem comes about after the couple have been declared husband and wife. This novel also gives a detail description about many aspects of Islam and teaches its readers about many norms and great philosophies in Islam in a self-effacing and unforced way which is becoming one of the most important parts of the novel. I’d recommend reading one for all of you regardless of your religion or belief, for this novel depicted a captivating tale of a true love between human in search of a peaceful life based on God’s will; something which is surprisingly rare to find in the world today.

his family and colleagues as well; living with his imaginary friends and all until he finally realized about their inexistence in the real world. Or consider Forest Gump, a retarded person who won the national football championship in his college-days, got awarded Medal of Honor in Vietnam War for his courage in helping his fellow soldiers out of warfare, made the cover of Time Magazine for his successful shrimping-boat business, covered by the press all over the states for his exceptionally long-distance cross-states run which inspired America, and many more, only to end up engaged and living before long with the girl he loved (since she passed in no time *sob sob…*), living their only son in his own upbringing.Many people who enjoy watching movies usually turn a blind eye on the film director, and only prejudge a movie from its casts. Although cast selections are an undeniably determinant factor in a successful movie, I’d go all the way to put directors in the first place before considering the casts. However, this is not always the case, as can be seen with Ron Howard’s recent letdown in the long-anticipated movie “the Da Vinci Code”, after proven a director of great versatility over the years (from “Apollo 13” to “A Beautiful Mind”) Therefore, my favorite director (award ;P) goes to: Ron Howard *no matter ward! ;D*, Michael Bay (The Island), James Mangold (Walk the Line), Peter Jackson (the Lord of the Rings), Steven Spielberg (you-know-what *h0h0*), Robert Zemeckis (Forest Gump), Fernando Meirelles (City of God), Paul Greengrass (the Bourne Supremacy), James McTeigue (V for Vendetta), and many others.
Nonetheless, if casts are to be considered, my choice falls to a bunch of great and talented actors and actresses including Tom Hanks, Russell Crowe, Reese Witherspoon, George Clooney, Nicholas Cage, Dakota Fanning, Morgan Freeman, Scarlet Johansson, Keira Knightley *lovely*, Matt Damon, Julia Roberts (hard not to put her), Natalie Portman, and many more.
For me, a good movie doesn’t have to be perfect, sensational, out of this world, high budget, and all that, but the most important thing is: it has to be enjoyable. With this standard, regardless of the genre, I can easily determine what makes a movie worth-watching for me. Now, here’s the list of my favorite movies of all time (NOT in order):
